My
name is Karen Irick.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
I offer
counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. Because
each individual, couple, and family is unique - it makes sense
that every challenge they face is unique. Likewise, it makes sense
to tailor solutions to your unique perspective and situation.
I can guide you in
finding the changes you want when things have become overwhelming
and unmanageable or when you feel stuck in some facet of your
life. When you want a clearer perspective and support in achieving
your goals I will share ideas and provide feedback to stimulate
thought and teach skills to build upon your personal strengths and
abilities.
As a professional psychotherapist I endeavor to help you gain the tools, learn
new skills and develop specific solutions to achieving the changes you are
looking for. I work to help individuals help themselves or improve their
relationships by changing feelings, thoughts, or behaviors. You determine the
nature and amount of change you wish to make. It is a collaborative process.
I received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Park
University and a Master's Degree in social work, with an emphasis in clinical
mental health from The University of Kansas. I have received professional
training in areas including; emotion focused marital counseling,
solution-focused brief therapy, hypnosis, and sexual addictions.
I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families in both the
clinical office setting and hospital mental health services. I have worked in
conjunction with psychiatrists in providing education to parents and children
regarding mental health diagnosis, psychotropic medications, behavioral
interventions at home and school, and attainment of community resources.
I have worked
in the field of mental health in the public and private school settings
providing counseling to students ages 5-18 with severe emotional and behavioral
challenges.
I design and facilitate psychoeducational groups and workshops focusing on
issues surrounding life challenges to both children and adults.
My office is
located in Liberty, Missouri. Easy access from
I-35 and
MO-152.
