Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What kind of people do you tend to work with?

I work with adolescents and adults, with individuals, couples, and families. My clients are intelligent, everyday people who are experiencing some trouble in their life (relationship difficulties, life transitions, depression, anxiety) or feel ready to move beyond some past issue or limitation to create a more fulfilling life.

Q: When do you see clients?

I have office hours at my Liberty office Monday through Friday. I see clients as early as 9:00 AM, and as late as 7:00 PM. I offer convenient lunch hour appointments as needed.

Q: How often would I come in?

We will work together on what would be best. I prefer to see people weekly or bi-weekly. My experience has shown this provides the best momentum for developing and maintaining changes in accordance with their goals.

Q: How many sessions would I see you?

I see most clients anywhere from 3 to 12 times, although the duration of therapy is up to you. It depends greatly on your goal, the complexity of the situation, and your readiness to change.

Q: How long does a session last?

Counseling sessions run 50 minutes. If you feel you would like to schedule a longer session we can schedule for 90 to 120 minutes. Many people recognize that they may want or need more time with their counselor than an average 50 minutes. For couples and families it may be necessary to book longer sessions if the need arises. Telephone sessions can be scheduled for 30 or 60 minutes.

Q: What is your fee?

Payment in full is required at each session. 50-minute sessions are charged at $90 and 90-minute sessions are charged at a discounted rate of $120. Telephone sessions are billed at $45 for 30 minutes and $90 for 50 minutes.

Q: Do you accept my insurance plan's coverage?

I am a participating provider with several insurance companies.  Contact me to verify coverage

Q: How does this work with my insurance?

Co-payment is required at each session then I can submit the paperwork for you or I will give you an invoice that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. I may not be "in-network" or a preferred provider in your plan. Please ask me - this changes the percentage they will reimburse. I'm happy to contact your insurance company and check your coverage. Some people choose not to bill the insurance due to privacy issues. If you have any questions we can discuss them before your session is scheduled.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash and personal checks.

Q: Are you accepting new clients?

I am currently accepting new clients.

Q: How do I contact you?

You can contact me by phone or e-mail. My office phone number is 816-582-4684 and my email address is kirick@accessingchange.com.
